Men at arms

14th corps

Recently, there was talk about the special signaling of the mountain troops, about the snow weed. As said at the initiative of Archduke Ferdinand Joseph, the commander of the 14th corps, this corps received a special distinctive insignia. The snow weed can be seen in an oval laurel and oak leaf frame, in the center of which the initials of the archduke’s name can be seen. Below the ribbons holding the laurels is the year: 1914-1916.

In this post I will introduce a wearing photo with this badge. The image is a very typical studio setting. The standing soldier rests his hand on a small table, on which his cap has also been placed, carefully so that the insignia on it is clearly visible.
