Colors of the Central Powers
From the inexhaustible propaganda material of the Great War, I have now again selected a badge that shows the national colors of the countries of the Central Powers. The colors of Germany black-white-red, Austrian black-yellow, Bulgarian white-green-red and Hungarian red-white-green are all visible on the flower petals in the correct order. The Turks are represented by the half-moon coat of arms on a red background. Since there were more petals than the number of colors, the German tricolor is depicted twice on the badge, moreover, doubled in both places, that is, two petal leaves of the same color. Austrian black and yellow also appears twice, but only one petal wide.
The perfect enameling and imaginative design turned most colorful propaganda badges into small jewels. The more special and rare ones are still sold at good prices at auctions today.
