IR 23

Several badges, many different postcards and letter seals were made for the 23rd Infantry Regiment. The fund for disabled of the regiment did a very diligent job. I have already written about their most common badge and cards, letter seals decorated with that motif. The current post presents a much more expensive, more exclusive badge.

The “common” regiment’s number inscribed on the baroque coat of arms is closed by a count’s crown. The crown and the initials below refer to the owner of the regiment Count Ludwig Wilhelm of Baden. The badge was available in three outlays. In addition to the enamel version shown, there were two types of plate badges, one plain and the other varnished. This badge was made by Jerouschek’s goldsmith workshop in Budapest.
