Men at arms

3. Tiroler Kaiserjäger Regiment

The usage of the Kappenabzeichen became more and more popular. This was despite of the regularly announced negative attitude of the KuK highest command against it. But since the officers themselves used the badges, the official prohibition did not work effectively. The less so since prince Karl always used the pins of those units that he visited on the fronts. This is the case with this photo too. He wears two unit badges and an “Edelweiss”. The first badge is that of the 8th “Kaiserjäger-Division”. I introduced it some time ago here.

The second is most probably the Kappenabzeichen of the 3rd Tiroler Kaiserjäger Regiment. It is not clearly visible, but the contours of the badge and the other badge indicate this.
