War propaganda

Habsburg, Hohenzollern, Hötzendorf, Hindenburg. Full letter H, what an alliteration! In addition, the German “Long live!” exclamation also shows H: “Hoch!”. It’s a great idea from the badge maker to collect these, thus symbolizing friendship and unity!

Propaganda badges have been produced in extraordinary variety by the makers. In most cases, the beautiful, decorative enamel pieces were adorned with the colors of the Allied Powers. The Monarchy was represented by the black-and-yellow color of the Habsburg House, and Germany was given the old, imperial colors of red, white, and black. Most of the badges feature Hungary with the Hungarian red-white-green tricolor. These colors have been used in almost innumerable variations and combinations. Such is the badge now on display.
